12mo, modern leatherette, 248 pp, illuminated with woodcut borders and letters. Top of title page trimmed, lacks the additional title and the add leaf preceding title (apparently not found in all copies). Some very minor foxing and aging. While this work was published in many editions throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, the first edition is scarce. According to the dedication the work was prepared for James Oglethorpe and the Georgia colonists. Written in the form of dialogues, this publication was meant to be used as a missionary manual for preaching Christianity to Indians and Slaves.
