An Answer to the Declaration of the American Congress

  • London: T. Cadell, 1776
By Revolution
8vo, pamphlet, later wrappers, 3-132 pp. Lacks half title, minor foxing. Not surprisingly, since this pamphlet was printed in London in 1776, it presents a different view on what was happening in America. The article attacks the logic of different aspects of the "Declaration of Independence", and presents his case for consideration. In doing so he challenges the logic of some of the beefs Americans had with Great Britain. For example, he argues if you send troops to America to protect the citizens, wouldn't you expect to quarter them where they are needed. He also goes on to challenge the claims that King George was trying to limit emigration to America, was denying Americans justice, and was putting the military above other parts of Government.
