Pamphlet 8vo, rebound in cloth, 25 pp. Lacks half title, library stamp on back of title page. Internally in excellent condition. The pamphlet was a rebuttal to Cumming’s Animadversions. However, as a result of a small pox outbreak, it wasn’t published until Cumming was dead. Croswell (1709-1785) felt it was better this way, since some of the points he raised might not “read so well” if Cumming were still alive. Croswell seemed to feel that man couldn’t love God if he were a being who will damn him. Cumming took a less human interpretation. This copy was a discard of the Harvard library.
