Large 4to, original brown morocco and boards, illustrated, xvi, 312 pp. Moderate scuffing and wear to covers, back hinge a little tender, endpapers replaced; else very good. Incredibly detailed account of the design, construction and operation of steam engines. At the time it was really about what's new with the steam engine, and the topics cover everything from connecting rods to parallel motion. It is also a highly illustrated volume. In addition to numerous illustrations in the text, there are 96 full page (some are folding) plates at the end of the book.
