- London: Charles Westerton, 1861
Small 8vo, period half calf and green boards, gilt spine, morocco lettering pieces, xi, 292pp. Lacks frontispiece, boards detached, spine worn; internally near fine. This work is a very rare narrative of captivity by Chinese pirates in what is now Vietnam. Brown gives some very interesting descriptions of his experiences, including the reactions of the local inhabitants concerning his physical differences with them. Some people actually thought he was deformed.
