Pamphlet, folio (12 1/4xb) unbound, 7[1] pp. Faint marginal darkening; otherwise in fine condition. This treaty represents part of a series of treaties the U.S. Government concluded with the plains Indians after the Civil War. As America looked West and began to develop railroads to get there, the plains Indians often had to be moved out of the way. In this treaty, the Two Kettles Band of Sioux agrees to cease hostilities, and perhaps more importantly, withdraw from overland routes or any other route the Government shall establish in their territory. The tribe was to do all this for $6,000 a year for twenty years. This is a rare, large paper copy of which only 75 were printed.
