By [Prevost, George]
8vo, half calf and marbled boards, [2], 197, [1], 99 pp.Some binding wear and spine label mostly gone, title page with an erased inkstamp, a couple of pale fox marks; internally about fine. Prevost was an important British naval leader in the War of 1812. After some success, Prevost appears to have lost a couple of key battles, including one involving the defeat of the Canadian naval flotilla at Plattsburg on September 11, 1814. He was recalled to England, and because he was condemned by a Naval Court, he requested a court martial to set the record straight. Unfortunately, he never had his chance, as he died right before the trial. Howes B747. Sabin 65414.
