Large 8vo, cloth, 815 pp. Spine ends somewhat torn, joints a little weak, aged and browned; else very good. Grant's final message to Congress at the end of his second term as President. This includes reports from all of the Department heads. A considerable amount of information on the financial condition is provided by the Secretary of the Treasury. Outstanding U.S. debt was a little over $2 billion, and a balanced budget for 1876. A broad range of information is provided by the other department heads, including the death of General George Armstong Custer in the battle at the Little Big Horn.
