Alexander Henry (1739-1824) was a fur trader and merchant, and probably born in New Brunswick, New Jersey. In 1760 he was transporting merchandise in Canada to help the British in their attack on Montreal during the French and Indian War. He was captured by the Indians for a short period, but continued as a trader for many years. Despite the fact that his work included a number of inaccuracies (the book was written many years after the events happened), it remains a valuable account of the fur trade.
