Pamphlet, original brown wrappers, 32 pp. Wrappers are chipped in places, mostly corners and edges, wrappers somewhat darkened, creased in the middle; otherwise in very good condition. How was born October 14, 1790, and was the sixth president of Dickinson College (1830-1832). He was also the head of the First Dutch Reformed Church of New Brunswick New Jersey. Author argues that slavery is part of God’s plan. While he felt some slaverholders were evil, so were some slaves. This is probably a first edition of this work; a later edition was published in 1856. Work 318
