A Dreadful Catastrophe Visits Santa Rosa

  • Santa Rosa: The Press Democrat, 19-Apr-06
By Santa Rosa, California
Newspaper, 8x10, single sheet printed on both sides. Browned and brittle, skinned area of verso obliterating a small area of text, small hole and minor tears. Rare complete "day after" newspaper account of the damage done to Santa Rosa by the devastating earthquake of April 18, 1906. Unlike San Francisco, where fires ultimately did most of the damage, in Santa Rosa most of the destruction was done by the tremor itself, leaving most of the business section in ruin.
