16mo, leather, engraved title, [16], 558 pp. Partially disbound, with some signatures loose or separated from text block, some earlier tape repairs, engraved title also repaired, a couple of paper labels on spine, binding worn and chipped, joints split, missing endpapers, library label on front pastedown, contents somewhat aged and browned, and somewhat brittle, title page chipped at edges, and a bit browned, last leaf has small tear on top, with no loss, and bent from tape repairs. There were several editions of this work published, and the first seems to have been in 1655. Pagination varies, but this copy appears to be complete. A four page dedication in Latin is included with this copy. The dedication and preface first pages have woodcut borders and letters. The last page is "An Index of the Heads of the Specimen." OCLC.
