- New York:: Derby & Jackson,, 1859.
12mo, original cloth, spine lettering, illustrated 432 pp. Binding worn, and lettering on spine faded, some foxing and aging, signatures on endpapers, but contents generally very good. This is a work that is almost exclusively focused on lion hunting "telling of the great successes, and hand to hand battles with the lion." Even the illustrations are almost exclusively about lion hunting. Includes considerable discussion of the habits of the lion, but much of it relates to knowledge of the period, rather than what we know today.
