New York: Simon and Schuster, 1958. First edition. Paperback. 127pp. Small quarto [23.5 cm] Illustrated wraps. Very good. The spine and covers are mildly rubbed and creased. The covers and text block are slightly wavy. Small numerical notation on the front cover. The spine is slightly rolled and faded. There are several small light stains near the spine, and there are several very small stains on the fore edge of the text block as well. The paper at the ends of the spine is chipped, and there is a 1/2 inch closed tear in the paper at the foot of the spine. The pages are browned, but very clean. The book is sturdy. Walt Kelly's career in animation began in 1936 at Walt Disney Studios, where he contributed to Pinocchio and Fantasia. In 1941, Kelly resigned at the age of 28 to work at Dell Comics, where he created Pogo.
