Contains 16 essays by various scholars on German agricultural history and a discussion of the role of Hermes in German political events during W.W. II. The illustration show Hermes in the dock before the Volksgerichtshof in Berlin, where on 11. January 1945 he was condemned to death for participation in the 1944 July coup attempt. He was sent to the KZ Ravensbrück but survived the camp.
