By Scott, Duncan Campbell
Boston: Copeland and Day, 1896. First edition. Hardcover. 135pp. Sextodecimo [18 cm] Light brown cloth covered boards with a gilt stamped title on the spine, and a brown ink stamped title and vignette on the front cover. Deckled fore and bottom edges. Very good. The extremities are gently rubbed and bumped. Uncut pages. The endsheets are lightly foxed. There is a contemporary owner's name in pen, along with a date, on the front flyleaf. The text block is subtly cracked at the beginning. The underlying cords are visible in the gutters of the pages at the beginning and end, however the book is sturdy. The inside margins of the half title page and the opposite page are slightly discolored. Mildly tanned pages. Duncan Campbell Scott is viewed as one of Canada's Confederation Poets.
