[a nice-looking copy, very slight wear at a couple of corners, light fading to spine cloth, binding starting to separate between signatures near end of book; attractive vintage bookplate on front pastedown]. INSCRIBED effusively ("For / My dear friend" etc.), SIGNED and DATED March 1933 by the author on the ffep. A young man from one of the "better" families gets involved with the upbringing of the daughter of a nightclub owner; it just so happens that the nightclub owner is the ex-wife of an ex-friend of his (another society chap), who divorced the woman and subsequently neglected to acknowledge or support the child.
