By Peake, R. B.
London: George Routledge, 1846. Leather bound. 104pp. Octavo [24 cm] 3/4 red leather with red cloth covered boards, raised bands, a gilt tooled spine, and gilt stamped linear borders on the covers. Top edge gilt. Marbled endsheets. Olive green silk ribbon place marker. Very good. The spine is faded, and the corners of the covers are very slightly bumped. There are a couple of tiny stains on the bottom edge of the text block. There is a small stain on the verso of the rear free endsheet. There are also notations in pencil on versos of the free endsheets. The pages have large stains due to foxing, and have occasional offsetting from the illustrations. Sporadic soiling on the pages as well. The book is sturdy. R. B. Peake became widely known for writing plays about farce during the early stages of his career.
