The extremities are gently rubbed. The head of the spine is just a tiny bit bumped. The dust jacket is in very good condition, with subtle sun fading to the spine and edges. Also very lightly soiled. There is a thin 3/4 inch long stain, along with a lighter stain, on the rear panel. There is a very small chip in the top edge. Rick Bass is the author of over twenty books, including nonfiction nature writing, essay collections, short story collections, and novels. Bass studied petroleum geology at Utah State University and began his career as a petroleum geologist in Jackson, Mississippi. In 1987, he moved to the remote Yaak Valley near Troy, Montana, where he has been active in working to protect his adopted home from roads and logging.
