Frank Waters wrote 27 books, including novels, biographies, histories, and essay collections. The majority of his fiction and non-fiction mirrors Waters’ wide interest in the culture and religion of Navajo, Hopi, Pueblo, and pre-Columbian peoples. He felt that all his books were immediate failures in the beginning. However, they were constantly reprinted in small printings and translated into foreign languages until finally gaining worldwide recognition.
