She was herself a writer, and between 1825 and 1873, she wrote 10 juvenile and children's books. Boys at Home was initially published in 1854 by Routledge in London. This appears to be the 1st American edition, also published in 1854 in New York. SCARCE. 8vo. Brown cloth covered boards with gilt title and decoration to spine. Embossed decoration to boards. Full gilt edges. Minor fading to spine. Edgewear to exterior includes bumping and rubbing. Tear to cloth along rear exterior hinge. Crack to front interior hinge. Foxing throughout though text and illustrations remain bright. Hand colored illustrations. 415 pages + publisher's ads. LIT/100212.
