Herschel V. Jones (1861-1928) was a prominent newspaper publisher and book collector. While he put together a few collections during his lifetime, he is best known for his collection of Americana. Considered on of the best collections of Americana the compiler informs us in the preface that this is "a remarkable collection of over seventeen hundred volumes the owner has succeeded in bringing together, in less than half-a-dozen years. The whole period of American exploration is covered... "
