Conditions in Alaska. Report of Subcommittee of Committee on Territories Appointed to Investigate Conditions in Alaska…
- Washington:: Government Printing Office,, 1904.
Pamphlet, 8vo, printed paper wraps, illustrated with large folding map, 32 pp. A couple of small chips and tears at extremities, small ink stain on front cover, a little bit of foxing and soiling, margin tear to map; otherwise very good plus. A relatively scarce Alaskan title that gives a view of the territory at the turn of the last century. The work covers, population, resources, the harbor situation, agriculture, mining laws, freight rates on the Yukon River, fisheries, minerals, and government. This report indicates the population of Alaska in 1904 was about 30,000, two-thirds of which were Eskimo and Indian. Includes a large (29" x 29") folding chart of Alaska, which aside from one 2" margin tear, is in great condition.
