Apparently a presentation copy, with an inserted sheet printed "From the Author" and with the bookplate of the recipient, G.W. Foote. Foote, a friend of Meredith's, was a British secularist and journal editor. In the original dark blue cloth with light bumping to corners. Interior page very good with light aging to margins and occasional pencil mark next to a passage. The inserted sheet has a browned crease along the top edge. In very good condition. 136 pages.
