The San Francisco Daily Herald. Vol. III No. 48.

  • San Francisco: , July 19, 1852.
By [San Francisco].
Folded newsprint, 18" x 24" pages, 4pp. Aged and browned, but still firm, minor chips and tears at edges, small hole in left margin not affecting text, some creasing, especially at bottom; otherwise very good. This is a nice copy of an early San Francisco newspaper that includes some local and national news. There is a good deal of local ads throughout, but some national news is presented on the first page, including the arrival of the Rajah of Coorg in England. On page two, there is some coverage of local news, including the arrest of Mr. Brown for building a fence on Merchant Street. The second page also includes some important editorial commentary about the upcoming presidential election. The importance to the Whig Party of standing behind some proposed laws, including the fugitive slave law, according to The Herald, would be important to their political fortunes.
