Shepard. 170pp. Duodecimo [19 cm] Tan cloth covered boards with gilt stamped titles on the spine and front cover, and a black ink stamped vignette on the front cover. Top edge gilt. Illustrated endsheets. With the gold and black pictorial dust jacket. Very good. The edges of the spine and covers are very slightly bumped and rubbed, and the top edge of the text block is a little scratched. There are several very insignificant stains on the covers. The endsheets are subtly faded, and the front free endsheet has a previous owner's name and address. Pp. 78-79 have large areas of subtle darkening. The dust jacket is in very good condition, with lightly creased and chipped edges, and mild darkening. Offsetting from the endsheets on the inside flaps. There are roughly 4 long vertical creases in the front inside flap. Previous owner's name and address on the internal, non-visible side of the dust jacket. Illustrated by Ernest H. Shepard. Ernest Shepard is most remembered for his work as a children's book illustrator. Shepard was introduced to A. A. Milne, the author who made him famous, through the magazine Punch.
