4 Volumes, large 4to, leather spine and corners with boards, spine labels, illustrated with four folding maps. Covers detached or nearly detached, some significant wear to spine and extremities, with some tears and pieces missing from spines, slight aging, occasional foxing, a little soiling and staining. Needs rebinding, but contents are in very good condition. Tacitus (56 AD-120 AD) was a very influential Roman historian born to a wealthy family in Gaul. He became a senator during the reign of Domitian, and was well known for his oratory and debating skills. He was also a prolific writer producing 16 books during his lifetime. This set provides a substantial part of his key writings and the four maps of the Ancient World, Asia, Italy and Germany are present, and in very nice condition.
