Square 8vo (6" x 8"), rebound with later cloth, 36 pp. Some significant staining or browning to title and acknowledgement pages, a couple of minor repairs on those pages, binding a bit warped with some extremity wear; otherwise about very good. John Tillotson (1630-1694) was born in Yorkshire, and would become the Archbishop of Canterbury. He graduated from Clair College, Cambridge in 1650, and in 1691 became the Archbishop of Canterbury. He spent a good portion of his career trying to reform the church, but faced stiff criticism for his efforts until the day he died. The pamphlet contains a thank you from the speaker of the House of Commons, and a recommendation to print Tillotson's sermon. ODB. OCLC.
