It comes from the library of the Earls of Macclesfield, who clearly took an interest in the contents. Given the dates of the pamphlets and the brief annotations in Proposals, they were likely acquired and read by the 1st and/or 2nd Earls, Thomas and George Parker. The pamphlets were then assembled into our sammelband, possibly by the 4th, 5th or 6th Earls. The titles included are: - [Barlow, Thomas]. A Discourse Concerning the Laws, Ecclesiastical and Civil, Made Against Hereticks (London, 1723). ESTC T31931. - An Attorney. Proposals Humbly Offered to the Parliament for Remedying the Great Charge and Delay of Suits at Law and in Equity (London, 1730). ESTC N12389. - The Statutes at Large Concerning Bankrupts... (London, 1735). ESTC T225267. - [Fobton, John]. Friendly Hints to Young Gentlemen, Who Are or Intend to be Bound by Articles to Attorneys or Solicitors (London?, 1754). Not in the ESTC, which lists editions from 1751 and 1758. - Observations on the Duty of an Attorney and Sollicitor... (London, 1759). ESTC T63402. - An Attorne.
