Pamphlet, 8vo, rebound with cloth spine and marbled boards, old gilt lettering on spine, 6, [1], 48, [2] pp. Binding cracked at spine, but still firm, spine end chipped and torn a bit, gilt lettering partially gone, faded old ink notation on title, contents browned and aged, significant foxing in places; otherwise about very good. Relatively scarce militia title that presents the term of the militia law of the state of New York. Originally passed in March 1809, this pamphlet includes amendments made in 1810 and 1814, which was at the time of the War of 1812. The militia was formed to protect New York's frontiers. Also included are the terms of the law of Congress, which was approved by James Madison, to call up the militia. The pamphlet contains two ad pages of books offered by the publisher. OCLC.
