Five-page Autographed Letter Signed

Napa, CA, 1970. unbound. 5 full pages written front and back, 8 x 6 inches, Napa, California, February 25, no year, circa 1970. Signed "Jessamyn" by the Quaker-American writer to fellow writer Jean Stafford, in part: "...a clerk would not let me buy anything until I had been made aware of your story in '4 Short Novels.' I told him I was aware, did admire, but this was not enough...he said very fiercely, 'Everyone with any pretensions as a writer should study Jean Stafford.'...I think he took me for a country matron (as indeed I am)..." One horizontal fold; near fine.
