New York: Horace B. Liveright (Boni & Liveright). Near Fine in Very Good dj. (c.1925). First Edition. Hardcover. [very nice copy, with just a touch of wear to the bottom edge; jacket has some minor spotting on the front panel, short closed tears at front hinges, another tiny closed tear at bottom of front panel, light soiling to rear panel]. (color illustrations) "A true account of the strange things which sometimes happen in a part of the world which does not exist." An almost indescribable book, "written and drawn for the fun of it" by Van Loon, whose "The Story of Mankind" had been the Newbury Medal winner a few years earlier. A hat (sort of) travels through time and space and world culture, encountering just about everything you could imagine, and some things that you probably wouldn't, all accompanied by vivid, full-page color illustrations. Almost impossible to find in any sort of a jacket, especially in such nice condition. .
