Based on the 1964 novel by Joanne Greenberg (as Hannah Green). Deborah Blake (Quinlan), a young mental patient, is transferred to several hospitals, and the last one looks clean and cheerful. She is treated by Dr. Fried (Bibi Andersson), a very skillful therapist who gets past her deranged defenses, revealing Deborah's violent fantasies about some of her relatives.
Nominated for an Academy Award.
