By Capek, Karel; Translated by M. and R. Weatherall
New York: A. A. Wyn, Inc, 1948. First American edition, Omnibus Edition. Hardcover. 469pp. Octavo [20 cm] Orange cloth over boards, with the title and author in black on the spine and front cover. Publisher's orange top stain. Very good. The extremities are mildly bumped and rubbed, and the spine is faded. The cloth at the head of the spine is a little frayed, and there are several short splits in the cloth at the foot of the spine. This is the first American edition. Karel Capek is well known for his early science fiction, particularly The War of the Newts, and for first introducing the word "robot" in his play, R.U.R.
