The spine is heavily faded (gilt and decorative stamping is still bright and bold). The free endsheets are darkened and the pages are foxed. With a chapter called "The Waters of Lethe." According to legend, bathing in the Waters of Lethe in Hades causes forgetfulness and will help one forget one's earthly life.
