Sadly, all of the color plates (except for the beautiful frontispiece portrait) have been neatly excised; nevertheless, the book is still lovely and uncommon, even as such. The "decorative borders and other designs, together with new stories and verses by Elizabeth S. Tucker". Bright and solid, with a delicate (but still firm) front hinge. Neat former owner inscription on the front free endpaper, very light wear at the panel edges, light soiling to the endpapers. Tall quarto, gorgeous pictorial boards.
