Hardcover. 469pp. Octavo [20 cm] Orange cloth over boards, with the title and author in black on the spine and front cover. Publisher's orange top stain. Very good, with heavy sunning to the spine. There are a handful of small, light stains on the spine, and there is a 1/4" split in the cloth at the head of the spine. There are two very faint moisture rings on the rear board. This is the first British impression. Karel Capek is well known for his early science fiction, particularly The War of the Newts, and for first introducing the word "robot" in his play, R.U.R.
