Volume I has a soft gutter between pages 494 and 495 with a one inch closed tear to the bottom of page 495 near hinge, volume II has a tiny stain to bottom of page 145/146, and volume III has a soft gutter between pages 574 and 575. Marbled end sheets and textblock edges. J. Cecil Alter (1879-1964) was a professional meteorologist and amateur historian. He worked with the U.S. Weather Bureau for the state of Utah, was chairman of the Utah State Parks Commission, and secretary/treasurer and editor-in-chief of the Utah Historical Society.
