Marbled end sheets and textblock edges. J. Cecil Alter (1879-1964) was a professional meteorologist and amateur historian. He worked with the U.S. Weather Bureau for the state of Utah, was chairman of the Utah State Parks Commission, and secretary/treasurer and editor-in-chief of the Utah Historical Society.
