Very good album with bumped corners and edgewear with near fine photographs.

A photo album compiled by a woman at the Folts Mission Institute in New York between 1916 and 1921. The institute "projected a school for the training first of foreign missionaries, second of home missionaries, third of Bible students who desire with short residence to take special courses in the English Bible." The album includes photos of faculty members, including Folts' president Miss Fowler, and of the students with captions identifying what classes they belonged to. The women are seen at various classes including physical education and cooking classes. A May Day celebration is pictured here with women in white dresses dancing on the grounds of the institute. The women were also responsible for taking care of the cleaning and shared "domestic duties" as a way of shaping their character. Some photos show the girls in aprons with brooms and buckets preparing to clean their rooms. The facility is also featured with photos of the grounds, dorm rooms, and classrooms including where they participate in bible study.

The leisure activities of the women are seen throughout the album with photos of a Halloween party and various hikes around the country. During the years around World War I girls are seen in nurse's uniforms and Miss Fowler in a female military uniform. There is also a photo of a motor corps ambulance car in front of the school. Part of their missionary training was to learn about other cultures they may be encountering on their missions. This is seen in photos of women dressed in various costumes including one photo captioned "India costume" with a woman wrapped in a sari. One group of photos shows the "junior pantomime" and features women in all white gowns dancing around a large cross. Interspersed throughout the end of the album are family photos along with a few photos from the woman's high school.

An extensive collection of photographs depicting women's religious education.
