New York: G. Schirmer, 1937. Hardcover. Very Good. The uncommon 1937 signed/limited. ONE OF FIFTY SPECIAL COPIES SIGNED BY ARNOLD SCHOENBERG at the limitation. A solid copy to boot of this impressive tribute to Schoengerg, with "a Foreword by Leopold Stokowski, affirmations by Arnold Schoenberg, a bibliography of Schoenberg works, portraits by Edward Weston and George Gershwin, a self-portrait by Arnold Schoenberg, candid camera photographs by Otto Rothschild and two ink drawings by Carlos Dyer". Additionally, articles by Roger Sessions, Franz Werfel, Otto Klemperer, Nicholas Slonimsky, Merle Armitage, etc. Solid and VG- in its special dark-leatherette, with bright gilt-design to the front panel and spine. Minor cracking and wear along the outer hinges (which still hold very firmly) and light soiling to the panels. Pronounced foxing at the endsheets and pastedowns but, happily, none of it affects the text or the plates. Publisher's chipped, thick mylar dustjacket as well. Octavo, edited --and designed-- by the formidable Merle Armitage. A truly scarce Arnold Schoenberg item.
