Slightly worn, browned and soiled; light horizontal crease; small circular handstamp to blank upper right corner. Traviès de Villers (1804-1859) was a contemporary and colleague of Daumier. This caricature was originally published in Le Charivari, an illustrated magazine published in Paris from 1832 to 1937 specializing in political cartoons, reviews, and satires.
