- Hardcover
- Chicago, IL: Chicago Tailoring Company, 1914
Chicago, IL: Chicago Tailoring Company, 1914. Hardcover. Good. Elephant folio [43 cm] in black cloth embossed to resemble leather, with decorative gilt-stamped front board (gilt almost completely effaced). Numerous small abrasions to rear board, rubbing and general wear; light to moderate foxing throughout. Due to the size of this item, extra shipping charges may apply. Large and fascinating trade catalogue composed of 25 lithographic fashion-plates on heavy cardstock, each opposite nine fabric samples. Many samples are missing, a few are motheaten, but the majority of those that remain are incredibly well-preserved.
The Great War had already begun across the sea, but Gilded Age fashions and attitudes still prevail in these plates, with their bucolic backdrops and careful depictions of languid, dapper gentlemen.
List of sold-out styles and three 1915 Butterick Catalogues laid in.
