Fort Stockton, Texas: Gibbs Field Primary Training School, 1944. Hardcover. Very Good. Five volumes. Quartos. Unpaged. Illustrations from photographs and cartoons. Embossed leatherette in different colors. Modest soiling on the boards, text block of one volume loosened and drooping a little, one book has several signatures, overall very good or better. Class books, similar to a high school yearbooks for the Army Air Force Flying Training school in Fort Stockton in West Texas. Apparently there were several classes per year, each designated by the year and a letter; eighteen classes graduated before training ceased in March, 1944. The class books represented here are for the following classes: 43-I, 43-J, 44-A, 44-C, and 44-E. Ownership name of O'Neil is in a couple of the books, presumably the owner was a faculty member (there is a pilot instructor by that name listed). The books feature year book-style pictures of officers commanding, flight instructors, student officers, and trainees, most of whom are pictured in their flight suits and aviator caps. Additionally there are many candid snapshots of the cadets in training and at recreation. *OCLC* locates a single copy of one 1943 volume.
