A photo album compiled by a soldier who was stationed at Fort McGilvray in Alaska during World War II. The album begins with newspaper clippings showing Palmer, Alaska. Following these are photos of downtown Seward, Alaska with images of storefronts and the main road through town. Also featured are photos of the school, Catholic Church, and the nearby Mt. Marathon. There are also photos of snow drifts and log cabins as well as native indigenous Yupiks. One photo of a Yupik woman breast feeding her child is seen here and a later photo shows a group of resting sled dogs. One photo is captioned "sunset on Lower Kenai Lake" and shows a beautiful view of the mountains ranges near the lake. The enlisted men are seen posed with each other and in portraits in uniform. One well-composed photo shows the town at midnight experiencing sunlight. Later photos show men lined up at attention with rifles and marching through the camp. They are also captured while practicing firing their rifles and marching with an Army band.
An interesting collection of World War II-era Alaska photographs.
