With a light 3 1/2' scratch along the bottom edge of the front board, a small impression in the surface of the front board, and a tiny stain on the front free endsheet. In the dust jacket illustrated by Winslow Pinney Pels, with rubbing to the surface, toning to the inside flaps, and a couple of minor chips in the top edge. The author's first novel, and the first Dr. Kay Scarpetta novel.
