The uncommon Sept. 1967 maiden issue of this short-lived student weekly, issued firmly in the spirit of time (1967) and place (Columbia). Suffused with a radical energy and a palpable distrust of the school's administration, the paper foreshadows the showdown-to-come, which would of course shut down the campus a little over half a year later and generate world headlines in the process. This copy has held up nicely: Clean and VG+, with a thin, even horizontal crease halving the paper and with one very small closed tear along the front panel's upper-edge. 15" tall, 12 pgs. In a nod to the Beat movement (which Columbia's campus gave birth to), the rear page is a lavish reprint of part of Lawrence Ferlinghetti's "Coney Island of the Mind
