A well-executed and charming final exam school project by University of California student Charlotte Nostrand in 1940, charting "Finnish influence on today's styles". Includes the original prompt given to students by the instructor, Miss Fancher. Typewritten commentary describes each watercolor illustration beginning with fashions from 1810 through 1870 (Plates I-IX) depicting Finnish garb or "Sulkava". The remaining plates (X-IVX) are modern adaptations of the earlier styles. The final plate is cut paper silhouettes. Note the bibliography citing issues of Vogue. Seventeen typewritten leaves with thirteen leaves of original drawings finished in watercolor, bound together with yarn in original hand-lettered card covers. Measures approx. 12.5" by 9.5
