  • [Cranford, NJ]:: Allen Printing,, [1935].
By Byrne, Bernard J.
8vo, original blue pebbled cloth, gilt title on cover and spine, illustrated with woodcuts, 160 pp. Limited edition, this book is number 60 of 130 copies. Light rubbing and wear to cloth, small dent to top edge of front board, offsetting to endpapers, normal aging and browning; overall very good. This is a somewhat scarce title, privately printed, concerning the experiences of army surgeon Bernard Byrne some 50 years earlier. Some of these experiences include travel along the way and his meeting with General George Armstrong Custer, who he describes as a handsome man that carried himself like a soldier. However, its real value is his description of the young state of Colorado and his coverage of the Utes, Mormons and frontier doctoring. Howes B1078
