First published in French in 1716, this edition includes information about the Jesuit activities in Paraguay not published previously. Illustrated with 37 maps, city plans, plates of natives, and natural history specimens, many folding, including Plate 9 which depicts the Chilean game of La Sueca and which is widely regarded as one of the earliest printed depictions of a form of golf.
