Boston, MA: Mrs. Lincoln's Baking Powder Company, 1899. staplebound. Gray printed wraps. Very good. 48 pages, 17.5 cm x 11cm. The Mrs. Lincolns Baking Powder Company Cookbook features an introduction from Mary J. Lincoln herself, a culinary celebrity at the time of the books publication. Lincoln wrote the Boston Cookbook, the preeminent cookbook of the moment and the predecessor of her student, Fannie Farmer's Boston Cooking School Cookbook of 1896, one of the most enduring American cookbooks of all time. With this celebrity status and the rise of branded products, she began to endorse brands of cooking products, most notably the Mrs. Lincolns Baking Powder that bears her name. This recipe book advertises this brand featuring recipes assembled by her, organized by month. She speaks directly to her readers in many of her addresses presumably as she might have addressed her many students at the Boston Cooking School. Apple Kitchen Cookbook advertisment inlaid. Some light scratches on cover, very good
